It's your road, and yours alone!
Imagine different people telling you different stories of where you come from. Understandably, the mutually conflicting sources of your history can confuse you, especially when you have no personal knowledge of your roots.
It is important to know your identity. The good old songwriter, Bob Marley said, we know where we're going, because we know where we're from. My deductions therefore are that people who are ignorant about their history will very likely be ignorant of their course, and stand the danger of impaired destiny. Your history is a foundational aspect of your identity, a solid ground that can't be taken from you.
This was exemplified in the Eve and Serpent saga. Genesis Chapter Three illustrate the deception of the serpent. The serpent enticed Eve with the grandeur of her history, because she was ignorant thereof. He persuaded Eve to eat of the forbidden tree against the instruction of God, with an aim of being like God. Genesis Chapter One reveals the history of Eve, wherein it is written that God created man in His image. Genesis Chapter Two describes the earthen formation of man sequel to his divine creation. Therefore man has a history of commonality with God, but based on Eve's ignorance of her history, and by implicating her identity, she impaired her destiny by falling for the Serpent's deceit.
Furthermore, it is important to know your identity, because it could very well be navigational to your purpose.
Man was created by God, and later formed on earth (Genesis 1 and 2 respectively), on which basis God enjoyed Celestial-Terrestrial relations with Man in the cool of the evening, and man coordinated the garden and animals, while the woman was man's helper. Also, Jeremiah Chapter 1 verse 5 indicates God's foreknowledge of Jeremiah. He said to Jeremiah, before you we're formed I have known you and ordained you as a prophet unto the nations.
Now, we know why Jeremiah was formed.
But, what about you?
Why were you formed?
The reason for our formation is what contemporary writers refer to as PURPOSE.

Why were you formed?
The reason for our formation is what contemporary writers refer to as PURPOSE.
Romans 8:28 says and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are called according to His Purpose.
The question therefore is, what is God's Purpose for your life?
I can tell you that there is more to purpose than to party, drink and die. There is more to you than to go to school, work, marry and die. God created every tree for a given geographical land, as Palm Oil Trees don't grow in South Africa but Corn does. Likewise, God has created and localised you in your given location for a Purpose.
We are people of destiny: talented and equipped with creativity and rationalisation. We were formed for a unique purpose. The mystery of human existence lies not in staying alive - for like the roses that rise with the sun, our glory is certain to set as the same.
The mystery of human existence is in self discovery on the basis of history, identity and purpose: find what you can die for, and you have what you live for - how divine is that purpose?
Through protracted meditation, I am of the conviction that a human being with a settled purpose must accomplish it, and nothing can deter a Will which discounts share existence, from its fulfilment.
Happiness is a natural pursuit. Lasting happiness is contingent on fulfilment of purpose, in most instances, aiming at something outside SELF. Man is historically connected and purposed towards phenomena beyond self. You can achieve ideal satisfaction in relating to a greater purpose, something greater than you.
In Philippians 3:13-14, the Apostle Paul said he leaves his past and gets committed to his future (pregnant with purpose). He said, I press towards the mark for the prize of the Higher Calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Let us get committed to a higher course, a purpose in God, in order not to reap an old age full of regrets for unfulfilled purpose, but leave behind a legacy when we die.
